A while ago I found these tutorials on book sculpture, this one was an Alchemist'S workshop that i did, back and front.
Here I am again after 2years. I bought The Artful Bird book and this was the first bird I made, then I made the wading bird.
Then owls, a penguin, and a flamingo.
Here are some photos of my porcelain fairy houses. These haven't been fired yet, only under glazed. I can't wait till my next lesson.
I have just started classes with this amazing product, porcelain paper clay, its such a wonderful material. I have been making fairy houses, I think I'm on my way to make a whole village, I have about 6 houses drying ready for the underglaze before it has its first firing. Forgot to take photos.
I do have a photo of the quilt I have just made for an order for a wedding present.
I have also opened an etsy shop but so far have only one item, I have loads more so I just have to photograph them, maybe finnish a few items.
Since last writing we have a few new editions to our house, I now have French windows in my workshop and a deck outside and a pond (built by Zac and Sylk)+five goldfish.
I must really try to post more often......
I've never been very good at communicating, just doing. I leave most of the correspondence to Wish. I have had a little exhibition in the local craft shop, where my creatures have had a little holiday which they really enjoyed. They are back home now. Next job is to make things for the Christmas Fair in Kinvara. I have decided I need more small things given the economic climate.
Here is a picture of my mum, I have loads of family photos sent to me when my aunt died. I have an album that my dad made when he was 'courting' my mum, it is in bits but some of the comments about my mum are still in tact. They are both dead now, so it a very nostalgic trip down memory lane. I'm trying to put photos of my stuff in the shop but I can't retrieve them at the moment.
I have tried to take photos of my recycled books, they haven't come out very good. Some of the pages are not quite finished.
I have tweaked my gryphon a bit, added some colour, brightened the eyes etc. I have also been prepping some canvases, some with black gesso. One I have started to collage, similar to my books. Another one I have started to paint,I am copying a Laurel Burch picture of two ho
This is my new head based on my daughters pot bellied pigs. I haven't yet decided how to do his body, maybe I'll make him into a biker.
This is a Gryphon I have been working on.
I have made the head and claws out of polymer clay, and the body of fake fur, I have found a lovely fur that looks like feathers for the eagle part. Inside the body is an aluminium wire armature. It is posable but isn't too stable as I think it is a bit too big.
My minotaur is mostly finished. I really like this method of making creatures. I have loads of ideas for the next ones but I want to try a different method for a creature. I have been looking at magweno art dolls and found a tutorial for making them and I'm going to try to start it tomorrow, its a doll with a fur body and polymer clay head, paws and feet. I have some lovely fur left over from making soft toys. Also I have a tutorial for making eyes that I can't wait to try when I have the materials.
