This is my new head based on my daughters pot bellied pigs. I haven't yet decided how to do his body, maybe I'll make him into a biker.
This is a Gryphon I have been working on.
I have made the head and claws out of polymer clay, and the body of fake fur, I have found a lovely fur that looks like feathers for the eagle part. Inside the body is an aluminium wire armature. It is posable but isn't too stable as I think it is a bit too big.
My minotaur is mostly finished. I really like this method of making creatures. I have loads of ideas for the next ones but I want to try a different method for a creature. I have been looking at magweno art dolls and found a tutorial for making them and I'm going to try to start it tomorrow, its a doll with a fur body and polymer clay head, paws and feet. I have some lovely fur left over from making soft toys. Also I have a tutorial for making eyes that I can't wait to try when I have the materials.
After making soft toys, and sculptured dolls I thought I would try making posable dolls with polymer clay heads, claws, and hands. I have started a minotaur in the same style. I found a tutorial on making a critter with a fur body and polymer clay, thats going to be another one I'm going to make, also a tutorial for making fimo eyes that you bake in situ, Dollmakers Dream tutorials.
Marcus on the roof, Shane is round the other side.
Some photos taken from up the hill opposite our house.
I had a go at making applique wallhangings. I have a mold for making faces and have been wondering what to do with them. Recently I bought a halogen cooker, its great for food but i believe you can cook fimo in it. i haven't tried yet.
Here is one i did with a bird of prey, i'm not sure about the legs but they do look like that in photos.
After years of having a leaky house we finally got our roof fixed. We built the house ourselves, it is
Today I have been adding whiskers to a leopard, also claws, jewelry to my new slutty doll , covering some pages for altered books took the dogs for a walk, where does the day go.
I finally managed to get a picture of this red squirrel, Isn't he beautiful, when I see the squirrels I have usually forgotten my camera. My dogs spot them and try to climb the tree.
This is my slutty doll, her heels are so high I wish I could wear heels but I always wear flat shoes. I think she needs a cape or something!
I really must get into writing a blog everyday, but I was never much of a diarist. I'm making bags at the moment, I have several on the go.
i have discovered printing on cloth with the computer and printer, the possibilities are endless! i've forgotten the name of the paper.
Another nearly finished bag.
Here are my new guys and gals, most of them need finishing, dressing and embellishing etc. I like to have a few projects on the go at the same time.
I found a wonderful website Wee Peeple.com. There was a tutorial on making Shaman Owls so I thought I would give it a try, so here they are.
The last minotaur went to a good home along with a dragon, this is a new one, a different head pattern and a lot smaller, he needs a few more embellishments and possibly an axe.
I made this lap quilt with velvet, silk, lace and other exotic fabric. I used to make quilts quite a lot but had a lot of problems finishing due to lack of space, so now l have decided to only make small quilts and other small things.
I have been working on this lad for a bit now and am in the process of making him an axe. I have a few other dolls on the go as well, l have legs, arms, bodies and heads waiting to be assembled. I like to have lots of things on the go, for example at the moment I have been altering children's board books. My daughter works in a Charity shop and brings home all the old board books that nobody wants. Good challenge. I find the pop-up books especially so! I have a few half finished, I have also made a few from scratch, Traci Batista is a great inspiration.
